In order to mitigate its catastrophic impacts on the earth\u2019s livelihood, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has recommended the global greenhouse emissions to be declined to net zero by 2050.\u00a0 As a result, countries are aiming to contribute to the net zero target via developing the processes and technologies to manage, store and remove the greenhouse gases from the environment.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Significant contribution to greenhouse gases emission comes from the energy sector and for the net zero targets to be achieved; this sector urgently requires unprecedented actions without compromising energy supply or increasing prices. The energy sector needs evolution of advanced materials and technologies from generation to storage and utilization. Technologies for carbon capture and storage would also play a crucial role.\u00a0 Wide range of technologies are being developed globally using advanced materials and processes towards fulfilling net zero targets but there are gaps and challenges to use them to their full potential.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 16px; margin: 0; color: #0000cd;\"><strong>Workshop Aims<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This workshop aims to bring national and international experts and researchers together on the same platform to discuss about the materials and technologies being developed globally to achieve the net zero target and the challenges therein.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Round table discussions will be held that will help identify gaps in international standardisation and reference materials to support the uptake of the materials and technologies towards this goal.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 16px; margin: 0; color: #0000cd;\"><strong>Workshop Themes<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Materials for energy generation\u00a0<\/strong>(solar, nuclear, thermoelectric, wind and hydrogen)<\/li><li><strong>Materials for energy storage\u00a0<\/strong>(batteries, super-capacitors and carbon capture and utilization)<\/li><li><strong>Materials for energy efficient technologies\u00a0<\/strong>(power electronics, low loss electronics, building integrated technologies)<\/li><li><strong>Materials for circular economy\u00a0<\/strong>(recycling, sustainable manufacturing)<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 16px; margin: 0; color: #0000cd;\"><strong>Expected Topics Include<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Identification of areas with lack of standardization and best practice<\/li><li>Evaluation of performance and assessment methods understand reliability of materials and devices<\/li><li>Best practice development for materials\/device testing<\/li><li>Identification of technical barriers affecting efficiency<\/li><li>Improvements needed for existing technologies<\/li><li>Durability of materials at cryogenic temperatures<\/li><li>Evaluation of recyclability, biodegradability to support a circular economy<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 16px; margin: 0; color: #0000cd;\"><strong>Global Participation<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eminent experts from India and VAMAS member regions will participate in the workshop. VAMAS is currently a G16 network with members from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, The European Commission, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, UK and the USA.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Scientists, engineers, researchers, students from academia and industry are invited to register their expression of interest in the first instance (providing a short summary of area of expertise).
